Op deze site zijn mijn recente fotoseries te vinden. Van elke serie wordt een selectie van foto’s getoond.
Veel van mijn foto’s laten landschappen zien, of details daaruit: bijvoorbeeld bossen en bomen. Ook zoom ik graag in op één object. Mijn foto’s kenmerken zich doordat er geen mensen op te vinden zijn. Tegelijkertijd zijn die mensen overal. Er is immers geen landschap, of deel daarvan, waar de mens niet op ingegrepen heeft, bewust of onbewust. Die ene boom in dat veld is daar geplant, wordt er gedoogd, of is de enige boom van een bos dat er is weggekapt. We leven immers in het Antropoceen. Sommige series laten, met een kritische ondertoon, de menselijke invloed op de natuur zien.
Als ik in een bewoonde omgeving fotografeer is dat meestal ’s nachts, op een tijdstip dat er niemand meer in het beeld kan lopen. Pas dan krijgt die omgeving een eigen betekenis, waarin zelfs de kleuren van overdag niet afleiden.
In zekere zin zijn mijn foto’s om deze redenen leeg. Er is geen actie of interactie op te zien, geen drukte. Soms laten ze eerder zien wat er niet is, wat zich buiten het beeld afspeelt, wat er was maar niet meer is of wat pas in tweede instantie te zien is.
Fotograferen doe ik sinds lang maar ik heb mijn activiteiten sinds de eeuwwisseling geïntensiveerd. Ik ben autodidact en fotografeer, meestal maar niet uitsluitend, digitaal.

On this site you will find my recent photographic series. From each series, a selection of photos will be shown.
Many of my pictures show landscapes, or details from these: for example, forests and trees. I also like to zoom in on a single object. My pictures are characterised by the absence of people. At the same time, people are everywhere. There is no scenery, or part of, where man has not intervened, consciously or unconsciously. That one tree in the field is planted there, is tolerated or is the only tree from a forest and is cut off. After all, we live in the Anthropocene era. Some series show, with a critical undertone, the human impact on nature.
Taking pictures in a populated area is often at night, at a time when no one can run into the picture. Only then the environment will have its own meaning, in which not even the colours of the day can be deduced.
In a sense my photos are empty. They don’t show any action or interaction, there is no fuss. Sometimes they show what is not, what is happening outside the picture, what was but is no more, or what can only be seen in the second instance.
I have taken photographs for a long time but I intensified my activities since the turn of the century. I am self-taught and I take mostly, but not exclusively, digital pictures.
